Easy Apple Dumpling Recipe
Ingredients:
- 6 medium-sized apples, peeled and cored
- 1 package of pre-made pie crust (or homemade dough)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
- Peel and core the apples, then set them aside.
- In a medium-sized bowl, combine sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Set this mixture aside as well.
- Roll out your pie crust dough to about 1/8 inch thickness. Cut out circles that will encase each apple.
- Place an apple in the center of each circle. Sprinkle a small amount of the cinnamon sugar mixture over each apple.
- Moisten the edges of the dough circles with water and fold them over the apples, sealing the edges.
- Place the sealed dumplings in a baking dish. Continue this process until all dumplings are prepared.
- Pour the water and lemon juice into the bottom of the baking dish, around the dumplings.
- Bake for 15 minutes at 450°F (232°C), then reduce heat to 350°F (176°C) and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
- Serve your apple dumplings warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired!
